A master plan for ongoing upgrade and improvements to the Stony Creek, corridor focussing in particular on the underutilised Stony Creek Reserve. As part of the master plan conceptualisation Outlines proposed specific landscape treatments and facilities to improve the identification of the Reserve as a public park and a destination through bold signage, super-graphics and integrated art. The park is highly visible from the West Gate bridge and located in a heavily industrialised area. Oversized infrastructure dwarfs the site and a key component of the proposed scheme was to work with the topographical and industrial infrastructure aspects of the site to improve the landscape at a human scale, as well as ‘advertise’ the site to passing (vehicular) traffic. The park signifies the start of the proposed Stony Creek Shared Trail which will form an important cycle link and recreational facility for the City of Maribyrnong.
