Flynn has a particular interest in the public realm, co-operative participatory design, sustainable solutions and developing design that integrates cultural narratives and indigenous fauna and flora.

His skill sets include site analysis and complex mapping / diagramming, master planning, sketching, design development, technical drawing, rendering / CAD softwares, community engagement, and landscape history and theory.

Flynn has also enjoyed tutoring construction methods, systems of structure and technical development at Victoria University of Wellington.
